Throughout the course of time, men and women have lead lives that have captured the worlds’ attention and imagination. For their great achievements, their acts of bravery, their very lives we have remembered them from the priceless pages of history. If it were not for the historians, the teachers, and writers of this world, many of these remarkable events that keep us on the edge of our seats would have been lost and forgotten as time wore on. While keeping with the traditions of the historians and storytellers of days long gone, a chance to reflect on the history of the Civil War has given us the opportunity to continue to keep the torches lite and fires burning bright for those who laid down their lives for a cause greater than themselves and one which nearly destroyed a nation.
